Legal Services of Southern Piedmont, a non-profit agency that provides legal assistance in civil
matters to low-income persons in Charlotte and Western North Carolina, seeks paralegal-advocate for
its Consumer Protection and Employment Law Program and Low Income Taxpayer Clinic.

Paralegal advocates assist individual low-income individuals, provide outreach and community
legal education, participate in community events, give legal advice under the supervision of a licensed
attorney, assist partner agencies in serving the needs of clients and engage in systemic advocacy
projects and activities. The paralegal advocate will:
- Screen and interview applicants for assistance; review client eligibility and determine
whether cases meet case acceptance criteria;
- Provide legal advice, counseling or other brief service during intake interview under the
supervision of a licensed attorney; and
- Assist attorneys in specific cases including contact with client; interviewing witnesses; case
investigation; legal research; drafting legal documents.
The paralegal may also be assigned individual administrative cases in which direct paralegal
representation is proper.
Requires college degree, paralegal certification or equivalent experience; commitment to
working with low-income people; proficiency in oral and written communication; strong analytic
ability; self-motivated and dependable. Proficiency in Spanish is required. Salary $27,500+
(depending on experience); generous leave and benefits.

Intermediate Litigation Paralegal

McGuireWoods LLP has a great opportunity for an Intermediate Litigation Paralegal in the Labor & Employment department in our Charlotte office.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the maintenance of voluminous document files
- Perform moderately complex factual research and investigation
- Develop systems to track information and assist with document acquisition, organization, review and analysis.
- Compile information from various sources, analyze and clearly report detailed findings using charts, statistics and other tools.
- Proofread legal documents
- Communicate with clients professionally over the telephone and in person
- Draft detailed correspondence and memoranda for attorneys as requested
- Utilize computer databases to organize, store and access information
Qualifications:
- Must have extensive experience with E-Discovery and E-Filing
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel
- Requires at least five years of Labor & Employment/litigation paralegal experience
- Four year undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university
- Paralegal certification a plus
- Extensive document management experience utilizing Concordance, Summation, or other similar software
